Backups Save the Day… again.

Recently one of our small business customers experienced something really awful. His laptop computer died… Actually, the hard drive had a mechanical failure, which was then replaced under the manufacturer’s warranty. Sadly, all of his files were lost and all of his email, contacts and calendar too.

Fortunately,Ā his businessĀ subscribes to our Proactive Maintenance Plan, and as part of that plan we manageĀ its nightly backups. All of our customer’s important files had been captured the night before, and the night before that, and so-on. Once we got our hands on his laptop, all we had to do was restore that data. Ta-da!

Backups are an essential component to a healthy network. Often the task of making backups is left to an individual. This is problematic for a couple of reasons. One reason is that the designated person may not know what to back up. Another reason is that, as we all know, people are busy and this makes us forgetful. Routines are often interrupted by all those little tasks we have to accomplish every day and every week.

The solution? An automated backup system. The lesson here is to back up often and back up comprehensively.

Proactive Maintenance Plan

We’d like to welcome Kris Matson and the staff at Pediatric and Young Adult Care to our Proactive Maintenance Plan. This maintenance plan is designed with small businesses in mind.

The Proactive Maintenance Plan makes routine check-ups, addresses imminent critical failures and offers priority response to emergencies. Scheduled monthly check-ups and routine preventative maintenance focus on security, data protection and virus and malware control. These steps safeguard your network and computers from common and predictable issues. Timely responses by a technician cover any emergencies, securing your systems before things get out of hand.

The customer prepays an estimated mothly cost. This makes budgeting IT costs easy. The customer will only pay more than the estimated monthly cost if the services rendered exceed the agreed upon number of hours allocated in the estimated monthly cost.

This plan is different from a per-incident approach. In a per-incident service call the customer must schedule a visit when a technician becomes available. Subscribers to the Proactive Maintenance Plan are given priority and should expect technical support as soon as possible.
