Happy New Year! We at badbrain computers have been extremely saddened by the recent earthquake and subsequent tsunami which has killed around 150,000 people in Southeast Asia. It is feared that without immediate action towards relief efforts many more will die from disease. Therefore, we commit to match funds given to us yesterday by some of our friends to support the disaster relief effort. Also we will place a jar at our shop on 400 Washington Street and continue to collect donations through January 15, at which point we plan to donate it to Oxfam International. Our jar is currently at $108. Google has posted a page on their website with useful links for anyone wishing to become involved or informed about this terrible disaster and the relief effort. http://www.google.com/tsunami_relief.html
We just completed our implementation of wireless internet at The Archer House. We started with The Kitchen and have added more and better coverage to their conference room and especially to the guest rooms as well. Just about anywhere in The Archer House you can find at least 80% signal strength of Wireless G. In most cases the signal strength is closer to 90% or more. This is particularly good for The Archer House, which wants to provide internet access to its customers. Using WiFi helped them avoid the astronomical cost of having to wire each room. Having wired internet is great, but can be very expensive. WiFi has become quite fast and secure. Meanwhile, the prices keep getting lower.
The Kitchen now has wireless internet available! We were contracted to get the Archer House WiFi for their customers. This is the first phase. Soon other parts of the Archer House will have WiFi too. Actually, one might be able to get the signal from the Kitchen in other areas there. However, we will add access points for increased signal strength.
